This cliff is over two kilometres long and rises above a magnificent landscape of vineyards, forming a unique limestone cirque where vines have flourished since Roman times.
On this vast rocky surface, almost 300 climbing routes classified as "adventure terrain" are a delight for experienced climbers (www.ffme.fr). Just below, the hillside vineyards stretch over mainly clay-limestone soils. The average age of the vines is impressive. The low-yielding plots (35 hl/ha to 45 hl/ha maximum) are mostly worked by hand and produce harmonious red wines with powerful tannins. The garrigue around the vines is mainly composed of cades, juniper and rosemary.
