The Centre National d'Entraînement en Altitude (CNEA) in Font-Romeu, created in 1967 to prepare for the Mexico Olympic Games and a preparation site for the Paris 2024 Games, is located at an altitude of 1,850 m in the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees Regional Nature Park.
It welcomes top-level athletes, coaches and international teams thanks to its comprehensive sports facilities (swimming pools, ice rink, athletics track, wrestling room, etc.), accommodation with over 140 beds and specialist services (medical follow-up, physical preparation).
A benchmark in high-altitude training, the CNEA has artificial hypoxia facilities and chambers simulating conditions at altitudes of over 5,000 metres.
All year round, it houses 142 sportsmen and women in 11 centres and centres of excellence in a wide range of disciplines, from swimming to winter sports, including wrestling, modern pentathlon, mountain biking and hang-gliding.
