In 2009, his irresistible album "Chamber Music", recorded with the cellist Vincent Segal, earned him a "Victoire de la musique" (French music award) and international acclaim. Despite being the son of Djelimady Sissoko, Grand Master of the Gambian Kora, Ballake is self-taught, through observing his father. His predilection for meeting and sharing with musicians from all backgrounds, has enabled him to constantly refine the originality and variety of his melodic compositions: no-one else can get his traditional Maldinkan 21-string instrument to speak such a universal language: truly enchanting and magical! In 2012 the masterful "At Peace", was released, produced by his new musical partner, Vincent Segal.
