The Goldberg Variations by Johann Sebastian Bach

After his much vaunted interpretation of the complete "Preludes and Fugues" (Opus 87, for piano) of Dmitri Shostakovich to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the composer's birth, David Levy once again gets down to business, this time with the "Goldberg Variations" of JS Bach, and it's no small challenge. These "Variations" are indeed feared by even the greatest performers because of their musical purity and demanding technicality, yet they are one of the favourite works of classical music fans, who love the power, refinement and rhythmic richness of this composition that has become almost legendary. Amplified by Glenn Gould's famous recording, The "Goldberg Variations" have now acquired something of a romantic aura, with the performance taking on an almost cosmic dimension each time.
David Levy studied piano at the "Royal Northern College of Music" in Manchester, before continuing his training with Yvonne Lefebure and Alain Planes. He performs in concert halls around the world, while teaching his art at the "Conservatoire de Cannes".
