To bring to light the dance that he loves, Nicolas le Riche takes us on a journey paved with Etoiles (stars).
Considered as one of the most iconic of Etoiles (or Principal dancers) at the Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris, Nicolas le Riche has danced in the greatest productions of the classical repertoire (choreographed by the legends such as Nureyev, Nijinsky, Grigorovich, and Mac Millan for example), while multiplying roles for the great names of the neoclassical movement such as Béjart, Petit, Robbinsand Tanner…His passion for his art, which he sees as a continuously evolving discipline, enriched with new influences and fusions of genres, has led him also to work with the greatest contemporary choreographers who have created the roles with him in mind.
With "Itinérances", the dancer and choreographer has created a programme in tribute to dance, of yesterday, today and tomorrow, and to those who do it and do it well ... the dancers!
By highlighting artists he admires, he illustrates the dance he loves Alongside "Critical Mass" by Russell Maliphant, marked by an aesthetic purity where power and tenderness come together, the magnificent and immortal "Jeune homme et la mort" by Roland Petit, and the picturesque "Annonciation" d’Angelin Preljocaj, whose exaggerated aestheticism transcends the subtle sensuality, he gives us his "Odyssey", a true aesthetic and emotional journey, that is refined and sculptural.
His programme exudes the essence of dance and the sense of aestheticism: it resounds like a living manifesto, signed most beautifully on stage by the excellent dancers who make it so powerfully moving.
