While this treasure scarcely has a generous reputation, when the eminent François Pignon calls on him, he has no hesitation in delivering the laughs.
François Pignon, a recurring character with Françis Veber is back with a new adventure: this time, it's the great actor Gérard Jugnot who dons the theatrical costume of the tender and magnificent looser borne into the pantheon of theatrical comedy by predecessors as illustrious as Jacques Brel, Pierre Richard, Jacques Villeret and Daniel Auteuil… While the "Cher Trésor" in question might make us think of whispered sweet nothings, this one has nothing to do with intimacy, quite the reverse, it is "public": long term unemployed, broke, abandoned by his family and mistrusted by others, almost invisible François Pignon has an idea to turn disorder on its head, and invent a tax audit! He is sure that when they find him subjected to such an ordeal, the others will be convinced that he is hiding secrets worthy of interest and a previously unknown "potential wealth". But he forgets that when you try hard to make people take an interest in you, you are in real danger of taking an interest in them. It's sharp, funny and tender, all at the same time. A modern sociological picture, stepped in a wonderfully bright humour, which highlights the strength of appearances and the impact these have on the way we think. The impeccable casting sails through a dynamic stage direction and dialogue with incomparable flair, while Gérard Jugnot is magnificent in the role of the "insignificant" man, who is rather clever and clearly determined to grapple with a society that has marginalised him.
